When Business Central is the right ERP And when Dynamics 365 Finance or a different system fits better

A good fit when

  • You've outgrown QuickBooks, Sage, or a set of spreadsheets
  • You run Dynamics NAV or GP and need a supported version
  • Finance and the warehouse disagree on what's in stock

Look elsewhere when

  • You run many legal entities with complex manufacturing: look at Dynamics 365 Finance
  • You only need a CRM: start with Dynamics 365 Sales
  • You want a license with no change to how month-end runs

Our D365 Business Central consulting in detail What each service covers, and what you have at the end of it

Business Central assessment

We start with the tools you run today: often an accounting package, a few spreadsheets, and a separate warehouse or order app. We note what each one does, who uses it, and which numbers disagree between them.

You end with a scope for Business Central, a list of what moves and what's retired, and a fixed price for the implementation.

Business Central implementation

We set up your chart of accounts, dimensions, items, locations, and approval rules, then load opening balances and open orders. Bank feeds, sales tax, and payment runs are configured and tested before go-live.

  • General ledger, payables, and receivables
  • Purchasing, inventory, and warehouse
  • Sales orders, shipping, and invoicing
  • Fixed assets and multi-currency

Business Central customization and extensions

When the standard screens don't fit, we build extensions in AL, Microsoft's language for Business Central, instead of changing its core. That keeps Microsoft's twice-yearly updates working. For a quick form or approval, a Power App or Power Automate flow is often cheaper.

Upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Dynamics NAV is the older, on-premises version of Business Central, and many NAV 2016 and 2018 systems carry years of custom code. We review each customization, rebuild the ones still used as extensions, and move your history to Business Central online.

Business Central reporting

Business Central has its own reports, and Power BI reads its data directly. We build the few reports your controller and operations manager open each week: cash, margin by customer, stock by location, and open orders.

Each report has one owner and one definition per number, so the margin in Power BI matches the margin in the ledger. We retire the exports to Excel that people built because the old system couldn't answer their question.

Business Central support and developers

After launch we fix issues, test each Microsoft update against your extensions, and add features as you grow. You can also add Business Central developers to your own team for a project, or for small changes as they come up.

Questions about Business Central services What buyers ask us before they start

Why should I consider a Dynamics 365 Business Central implementation?

Business Central puts finance, purchasing, inventory, sales, and projects in one system, so the warehouse and finance see the same stock. It runs in Microsoft's cloud, works with Outlook, Excel, and Teams, and Microsoft updates it twice a year.

Can I hire Business Central developers to join my in-house team?

Yes. Our Business Central developers can join your team for a project or for a set number of hours a month, working in your backlog and your tools. They write extensions in AL and follow your review process.

Do you offer support after a Business Central implementation?

Yes. We stay through the first month-end close, then support the system on a monthly plan. That covers fixes, user questions, and testing each Microsoft update against your extensions before it reaches your users.

Can I use your Business Central services for minor changes?

Yes. A new report, a field on a form, or a change to an approval rule is small work, and we take it on through a block of support hours. You don't need a full project for it.

Is Business Central cloud based?

Business Central online runs in Microsoft's cloud, and that's what we recommend for most companies. An on-premises version still exists for businesses that must keep data on their own servers, but it misses some cloud features.

I need Business Central developers for an ongoing project. Can you help?

Yes. If a project is already under way with another firm or your own team, our developers can join it, review the extensions built so far, and take on the backlog. We start with a one-week review of the code and the open issues.
