AS/400 support services from people who know RPG IBM i support and maintenance, from the operating system to the RPG
IBM iSeries maintenance services for the whole system The operating system, the database, the jobs and the code, under one contract
How our IBM i support works Five steps, from the first review to a system you can rely on
- Week 1Assess the systemOS level, PTFs, security, backups, jobs and the open problems.
- Week 2Plan for recoveryHow fast each system must come back, and how we'll make it happen.
- Weeks 3 to 4Maintain and testUpdates applied in order, each one tested before it reaches production.
- Weeks 3 to 6Document itJobs, interfaces and run books written down, so support doesn't rest on one person.
- Every monthSupport and reportTickets, incidents, system health and what we changed.
When AS/400 support services are the right fit And when a project would serve you better
A good fit when
- Your IBM i administrator or RPG developer is retiring or has left
- Support rests on one or two people, with no cover
- The system works, but nobody has tested the recovery plan
Look elsewhere when
- You need a large change built: hire RPG developers for the project
- You need the data in other systems: build APIs
- You're leaving the platform within a year: plan the migration first
Our AS/400 maintenance and support in detail What each service covers, and what you have when it's in place
iSeries application support
When an order won't post or a report comes out wrong, your users call us. Level 1 answers questions and fixes simple problems, level 2 investigates, and level 3 fixes the code or the configuration, with escalation to IBM when the fix must come from IBM.
Every ticket is ranked by severity, and resolution times are agreed in the contract.
AS/400 technical support for the operating system
We keep the IBM i current: cumulative and group PTFs, operating system upgrades, firmware and security patches. Each one is tested in a partition before it reaches production, with a plan to roll back.
- Security reviews of user profiles, authorities and exit points
- Performance tuning of subsystems, memory pools and jobs
- Compliance audits for the standards you report against
Backups, high availability and disaster recovery
We check that backups run and restore, set up high availability where the business can't wait, and write a recovery plan with a target time for each system. Then we rehearse it, so the plan works before you need it.
Maintenance and troubleshooting of RPG applications
Many problems are in the code, not the system. Our RPG programmers fix bugs, tune slow batch jobs and make small changes, and write down the rules they find on the way.
IBM i integration and migration support
We keep interfaces to other systems running, such as file transfers, EDI and data queues. When you modernize or migrate, we keep the old system stable alongside it: parallel running, rollback plans, and support after the switch.
Questions about AS/400 maintenance and support What IT leaders ask us before they hand over support
What does AS/400 maintenance and support include?
Operating system and firmware updates, security patches, performance tuning, backups and disaster recovery, compliance reviews, application bug fixes and monitoring. The scope is set in your contract, from ad hoc help to fully managed support.
Do you support the IBM i during modernization?
Yes. We keep the old system stable while modernization runs beside it, including rollback plans, parallel running and support after each switch-over.
What support levels do you provide?
All three. Level 1 handles user questions and simple issues, level 2 investigates harder problems, and level 3 fixes code and configuration, escalating to IBM when the fix must come from IBM.
What is an AS400 system?
The AS/400, now IBM i on IBM Power servers, is a business computer that combines hardware, operating system, database, security and middleware. Banks, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and insurers still run core operations on it.
What is AS400 software?
The applications and system software that run on the IBM i, often written in RPG, CL or COBOL. They handle orders, billing, inventory, payroll and other core transactions.
