How everything you run works together.
Every estate already has an architecture — usually by accident, one urgent system at a time. We draw yours on purpose: what you bought, what you have run for twenty years, and what should be built next, on one plane, with a revision number, because a picture that evolves needs one. The Software Review takes five days, is complimentary, and produces it. You keep it either way.
What it means that everything respects the architecture
- One picture, kept current
- Bought, inherited and built systems appear on the same plane, and the drawing is revised as the estate changes — it describes what stands, not what a slide once promised.
- Every new piece has a prepared place
- Before anything is funded, the architecture already shows where it will sit and what it must connect to. Fit is designed in, never retrofitted during integration testing.
- Deviation is a revision, never a quiet exception
- When reality argues with the drawing, the drawing changes — as a recorded decision with a reason. The architecture stays true because changing it is cheap and ignoring it is not allowed.
- Agents run on it
- Software that acts is only as smart as the map it is given. A current architecture is what makes agents safe to run against your estate.
Complex organisations are our normal
Every organisation is different, and the differences are exactly what the architecture exists to hold. Your constraints are drawn in before anything is built:
- Data residency
- Data that must stay in-region — or in-building. The drawing shows where every store lives, and residency is checked at the boundary, not promised in a contract appendix.
- Air-gapped and isolated environments
- Some estates run parts of themselves with no path to the internet at all. The architecture treats isolation as a first-class zone, with its own deployment and update story.
- Many entities, instances and regulators
- One group, five legal entities, three regulators, separate instances that must stay separate — and still one picture. What is shared, what is duplicated and what must never touch is decided on the drawing, not discovered in production.
- The core you cannot replace
- The system of record that is not going anywhere is drawn as load-bearing, and everything new is designed to work with it rather than around it.
- An acquisition, mid-programme
- A new company arrives with its own estate. The architecture is how the two pictures become one on purpose, instead of coexisting by accident for a decade.
